MAIN THIS WEEK AT CAMP

Written for Eberhart

A new song, written summer 2006 by a camper for the closing campfire. If you've ever made a friend at Camp Eberhart, we're sure you can relate too... enjoy, and remember.

Won't say "good bye"

Verse one: Where's the good in goodbye
It's just a bitter melody
Just another falling star
A sad song we all must sing
So take that falling star and hold it in your heart
Sing that melody where ever you are
Smile at the memories that you hold so dear
And know that we're never too far

Chorus: And I won't say good bye to you
I won't turn around and walk away
'Cause saying good bye means it might be forever
And I won't let it end that way

Verse two:If you're ever feeling lonley
If you're ever feeling blue
Close your eyes and take a breath
And know that friends remain true
So take a look at the faces that surround you here
Memorise the smiles the laughs the tears
'Cause we are a family believe it or not
That keeps growing through the years

Chorus: And I won't say good bye to you
I won't turn around and walk away
'Cause saying good bye means it might be forever
And I won't let it end that way

Bridge: Good byes are a bitter melody
Farewells are a sad song we must sing
So I refuse to say good bye
'Cause I'm sure we'll meet again in this life

Chorus: And I won't say good bye to you
I won't turn around and walk away
'Cause saying good bye means it might be forever
And I won't let it end that way
No this good bye is not forever
'Cause I want let it end that way.

Graces
Breakfast
Lord of Life
Lord of Life, the fountain head
By thy hand must we be fed
As we bow in gratitude
Lord, we thank Thee for this food.
Amen, A-a-a-amen.

Lunch
Praise For Bread
Noontime is here, the board is spread,
Thanks be to God who gives us bread.
Praise God for bread.

The Lord Is Good To Me
Oh, the Lord is good to me,
And so I thank the Lord for giving me the things I need
The sun the rain and the apple tree
The Lord is good to me.

Supper
For Health and Strength (a round)
For health and strength and daily bread,
We praise thy name, oh Lord.

Taps
Day is done
Gone the sun
From the lake
From the hills
From the sky
All is well
Safely rest
God is nigh

Ceremonial
Follow The Gleam
To the knights in the days of old,
Keeping watch on the mountain height,
Came a vision of Holy Grail
And voice thro' the waiting night,
Follow, follow, follow the gleam,
Banners unfurled o'er all the world,
Follow, follow, follow the gleam
Of the chalice that is the grail.

And we who would serve the king,
And loyally him obey,
In the consecrate silence know,
That the challenge still holds today,
Follow, follow, follow the gleam,
Standards of worth o'er the all the earth,
Follow, follow, follow the gleam,
Of the light that shall bring the dawn.

There's A Long, Long Trail Awinding
There's a long, long trail awinding into the land of my dreams,
Where the nightingale is singing and pale moon beams.
There's a long, long night awaiting until my dreams all come true.
'Til the day that I'll be going down that long, long trail with you.

Someone like you, a pal so good and true,
I'd like to leave it all behind and go and find
A place that's known to God alone, just a spot to call my own
We'll build a little nest, somewhere out in the west,
And let the rest of the world go by.

Swing Low Sweet Chariot
Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home

I looked over Jordan and what did I see
Coming for to carry me home
A band of angels coming after me
Coming for to carry me home

If you get there before I do
Coming for to carry me home
Tell all my brothers I'm a coming there too
Coming for to carry me home

Peace
Peace, I ask of thee, oh river
Peace, peace, peace
When I learn to live serenely
Cares will cease.

From the hills, I gather courage
visions of the days to be;
Strength to lead and faith to follow,
all are given unto thee.

Peace, I ask of thee, oh river
Peace, peace, peace
When I learn to live serenely
Cares will cease.

Eberhart Songs
Hezekiah Thomas
Oh, Hezekiah Thomas was a soldier of the king,
And he came from across the sea-ee-ee,
To the Frenchmen and the Indians, he didn't mean a thng
In the wilds of this wild country-ee-ee
In the wilds of this wild country-ee-ee
For the cobblestones that turned to gold
He sought with all his might,
He was a spiritualist, loyal and true
And he gathered every one of them that came within his sight,
And he went and froze to death when he was through.
Oh, Eberhart, brave Eberhart
Was a name known to fame in days of yore-ore-ore,
May she ever be glorious
'Til the sun shines in heaven no more-ore-ore.

I've Got A Sneaky Feeling
I've got a sneaky feeling round my heart
That I want to take a rest
I want to pack my grip and take a trip
To the camp that I love best
You can have your city junk
Just give my good old bunk
Down at Corey, yes by gory
I'll be tickled to death to know
That I can stay right there
And I'll never have to part
Come along with me, we'll have a jubilee
Down at good old Eberhart

I Wanta Be
I wanta be, I wanta be, I wanta be, I wanta be,
I wanta be back home at Corey
Where you lie in your bunk and your feet get cold,
You pull up your knees and you curl up your toes
You oughta see, you oughta see, you oughta see,
You oughta see, you oughta see my camp at Corey
You can tell the world I'm going there
C-O-R I don't know how to spell it
But I'm going to my camp in Michigan.

Toast to Eberhart
Camp Eberhart, Camp Eberhart
We praise you to the skies
Your shining light keeps shining bright
Before our very eyes
And everything you do for us
Is guidance good and true,
We sing a toast to Eberhart,
From all of us to you!

Counselor's Alma Mater
When camping days are o'er our memories
Recall each happy hour at Camp EB
Her moonlit lake and silver star divine
Serene symbolic pine

The sky is painted azure by sunset
The campfire light reflects each silhouette
The tranquil night is pierced by whippoorwill call
Before the pale moon dies

The friendships that we've made will ere endure
Through all the years to come they'll hold secure
You are the essence of our reverie
Camp Eberhart, we cherish thee.

A Longing In My Heart
There's a longing in my heart for dear old Corey Lake,
We dread the days that part us from the friends we make,
Beneath the starry sky, the locusts seem to sigh,
Come back to camp next year…Back to Eberhart

Green Trees
Green trees around us, blue skies above
Friend all around us in a world filled with love.
Taps sounding softly, hearts beating true,
As campers sing good night to you
Day is done, gone the sun
From each dying, glowing ember
There are friendships to remember
As we sing one last goodnight
Good night to you.

Wholesome Life
E is for a boy named Eberhart, who long ago camped out on the point.
His dream was that someday, a camp would be built here. The same year he died.
His parents, later looking through his possessions, found a map outlining this
camp. They bought and donated 13 acres of land. A boy's dream had come true.
B is for the betterment of oneself - to know and love new friends.
E is for ever...ever beautiful in thought, word and deed.
R is for reverence...reverence of God.
H is for the happiness that banishes hate.
A is for the ambition to learn things new.
R is for reach...always reaching our goals.
T is for truth...I would be true.

Rounds
Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.

Why Doesn't My Goose
Why doesn't my goose sing as well as thy goose?
When I paid for my goose twice as much as thou.

Oh, How Lovely Is The Evening
Oh, how lovely is the evening, is the evening
When the bells are sweetly ringing, sweetly ringing
Ding, dong, ding, dong, ding, dong, ding.

White Choral Bells
White Choral bells upon a slender stalk
Lillies of the valley deck my garden walk
Oh, don't you wish that you could hear them ring?
That will happen only when the fairies sing.

Mingled Melodies
Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping?
Three blind mice, three blind mice

Brother John, Brother John
See how they run, see how they run

Morning bells are ringing
They all ran after the farmer's wife. She

Morning bells are ringing
Cut off their tails with a carving knife. You

Ding, ding, dong! Ding, ding, dong!
Never saw such a sight in your life as three blind mice.

Old Favorites
Friends, Friends, Friends
Friends, friends, friends
We will always be.
Whether in fair or in dark, stormy weather,
We'll always be good friends together.
Friends, friends, friends
We will always be.
Time cannot sever our good times together.
Oh, friends, friends, friends.

Maybe
Maybe you were meant for me and maybe this was meant to be
And maybe you'll come back to me someday-ay-ay-ay-ay.
Maybe I'll be all alone and maybe you won't telephone
And maybe you'll come back to me someday-ay-ay-ay-ay.
Maybe you will realize that true love never really dies
And maybe you'll come back to me someday-ay-ay-ay-ay.

Barges
Barges, I would like to go with you
I would like to sail the ocean blue

Barges, is there a treasure in your hold?
Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?

Out of my window, looking in the night
I can see the barges flickering light

Barges, I would like to go with you
I would like to sail the ocean blue

Starboard shines green and port is glowing red
I can see those barges from my bed

Barges, I would like to go with you
I would like to sail the ocean blue

Barges, is there a treasure in your hold?
Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?

On Moonlight Bay
We were sailing along on moonlight bay,
You could hear the gentle voices singing
They seemed to say...
You have stolen my heart, now don't go 'way
As we sang love's old sweet song
On moonlight bay...on moonlight bay.

Blue Moon
Blue Moon, I saw you standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue Moon, you knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for
And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms could ever hold
I heard somebody whisper "Please adore me"
And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold.
Blue Moon, now I'm no longer alone,
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own.

My Buddy
Nights are long since you went away,
I dream about you all through the day
My buddy, my buddy, nobody quite so true

I miss your voice, the touch of your hand
Just long to know that you understand
My buddy, my buddy, your buddy misses you

I Believe
I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, a candle glows
I believe for everyone that goes astray, some one will come to show the way
I believe, I believe.
I believe above the storm, the smallest prayer will still be heard
I believe that someone in the great somewhere hears every word
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry or touch a leaf or see the sky,
Then I know why…I believe.

All Through The Night
Sleep my child and peace attend thee.
All through the night.
Guardian angels God will send thee,
All through the night.
Soft the drowsy hours are creeping
Hill and vale in slumber sleeping
I my loving vigil keeping,
All through the night.

While the moon her watch is keeping
All through the night.
While the weary world is sleeping,
All through the night.
O'er thy spirit gently stealing
Visions of delight revealing
Breathes a pure and holy feeling,
All through the night.

Shine On Harvest Moon
Shine on, shine on harvest moon up in the sky
I ain't had no loving since January, February, June or July
No time, ain't no time to sit outside and swoon,
So, shine on, shine on harvest moon for me and my gal.

I See The Moon
I see the moon, the moon sees me
The moon sees the one I want to see
God bless the moon, and God bless me
And God bless the one I want to see.

It seems to me that God above,
Created you for me to love
He picked you out from all the rest
Because he knew I'd love you best.

Down By The Old Mill Stream
Down by the old mill stream where I first met you,
With your eyes so blue dressed in gingham too,
And it was there I knew that you loved me true.
You were sixteen, my village queen down by the old mill stream.

Today
Chorus:

Today while the blossoms still cling to the vine
I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine
A million tomorrows shall all pass away
'Ere I forget all the joys that are mine today

Oh, I'll be a dandy and I'll be a rover
You'll know who I am by the song that I sing
I'll feast at your table, I'll sleep in your clover
Who cares what tomorrow may bring?
Chorus
I can't be contented with yesterday's glories
I can't live on promises, winter to spring
Today is my moment and now is my story
I'll laugh and I'll cry and I'll sing
Chorus

No Man Is An Island
No man is an island
No man stands alone
Each man's joy is joy to me
Each man's grief is my own
We need one another
So I will defend
Each man as my brother
Each man as my friend
(interlude)
I saw the people gather
I heard the music start
The song that they were singing
Is ringing in my heart.
(repeat verse)

This Land Is Your Land
This land is your land
This land is my land
From California to the New York Islands
From the redwood forest
To the gulfstream waters
This land was made for you and me.

As I went walking
Along the highways
I saw above me
The endless skyway
I saw below me
That golden valley
This land was made for you and me

Camp Version
This camp is your camp
This camp is my camp
From Corey Lake
To Turtle Bay
From the Pine Tree forests
To the beach and Tent Street
This camp was made for you and me

The Bear Went Over The Mountain
The bear went over the mountain
The bear went over the mountain
The bear went over the mountain
To see what he could see.
And all that he could see
And all that he could see
Was the other side of the mountain,
The other side of the mountian
The other side of the mountain
Was all that he could see.

She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain
She'll be coming around the mountain when she comes
She'll be coming around the mountain when she comes
She'll be coming around the mountain
She'll be coming around the mountain
She'll be coming around the mountain when she comes

She'll be driving six white horses when she comes

We'll all run out to meet her when she comes

We'll kill the old red rooster when she comes

We'll have chicken and dumplings when she comes

She will have to sleep with Grandma when she comes

She will have to wear red flannels when she comes

We will all be very sad when she leaves

I'll Love You All The Time
We'll build a bungalow big enough for two
Big enough for two, my honey, big enough for two
And when we're married, happy we'll be
Underneath the bamboo, underneath the bamboo tree

If you'll be m-i-n-e mine, I'll be t-h-i-n-e thine
And I'll l-o-v-e love you all the t-i-m-e time
You are the b-e-s-t best of all the r-e-s-t rest
And I'll l-o-v-e love you all the t-i-m-e time
We'll take a w-a-l-k walk down into the p-a-r-k park
And I'll k-i-s-s kiss you in the d-a-r-k dark
It takes a k-i-s-s kiss to make a m-i-s-s miss,
And I'll l-o-v-e love you all the t-i-m-e time.

Let's Go Fly a Kite
Let's go fly a kite, up to the highest height.
Let's go fly a kite, and send it soaring
Up to the atmosphere, up where the air is clear.
Oh let's go fly a kite!

When you send it soaring up there,
All at once you're lighter than air.
With your feet on the ground, you're a bird in flight.
With your fist holding tight to the string of your kite!

Oh oh oh oh!!! Lets go fly a kite,
Up to the highest height
Lets go fly a kite, and send it soaring
Up to the atmosphere, up where the air is clear,
Oh lets go fly a kite!!

Kookaburra
Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh Kookaburra
Gay your life must be

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Eating all the gumdrops he can see
Stop, Kookaburra, stop Kookaburra
Leave some there for me

Ain't It Great To Be Crazy?
A horse and flea and three blind mice
Sat on the corner shooting dice
The horse, he slipped and fell on the flea
Whoops said the flea, there's a horse on me
Chorus:
Boom, boom, ain't it great to be crazy
Boom, boom, ain't it great to be crazy
Giddy and foolish the whole day long
Boom, boom, ain't it great to be crazy

Early one morning in the middle of the night
Two dead boys went out to fight
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other

Bought a pair of combination underwear
Guaranteed not to rip or tear
Wore 'em six months without exaggeration
I wore 'em so long, I forgot the combination

Way down South where bananas grow
A flea stepped on an elephant's toe
The elephant cried with tears in his eyes
Why don't you pick on a fellow your size?

My mama hates me - I don't wanna go home
My daddy hates me - I don't wanna go home

I'm at an all girl's camp so pity me
There's not a single boy in the vicinity
And every night at eight they lock the gate
I don't know why the hell I ever left the state
I'm gonna take the first train homeward bound
Gonna turn this whole camp upside down
Gonna smoke and drink and lie a lot, lie a lot
All girl's c-a-a-a-amp!

As we go rolling, rolling home.

Show Me The Way To Go Home
Show me the way to go home
I'm tired and I want to go to bed
Had a little drink about an hour ago,
And it went straight to my head.
Where ever I may roam,
On land or sea or foam
You can always hear me singing this song
Show me the way to go home.

Translation:

Show me the way to my habitual abode
I'm fatigued and I want to retire
Had an alcoholic beverage 60 minutes ago
and it went straight to my cerebellum.
Wherever I may rambulate
On land or sea or agitated water
You can always hear me chanting this melody
Show me the way to my habitual abode
